Favorite Meet |
As an athlete: Dayton Relays, there was nothing better than going down to Welcome Stadium and throwing at 11 o'clock at night under the lights
As a coach: The Criss and Rita Somerlot Field Event Classic because it has a great level of competition. I also love how there is always a throwing event going on, with hammer starting the meet, discus in the middle and shot put to finish off the meet.

Best Track Memory |
As an athlete: Throwing over 50' in the shot put the first time when I walked back to Matt Somerlot upset because I didn't think that I had a good throw. He simply said "listen." And after the mark was read he told me, "Congratulations you are the 52nd athlete over 50' in Centerville history."
As a coach: Seeing the faces of my athletes after they know that the hit a good throw or that they PR'd.

What Does Track Mean To You |
Track and Field is more than a sport. There is the competition, the victory and the defeat, but there is also a social aspect that can't be replicated by other sports. You make life long friends through Track and Field. Track is a community in which anyone can succeed, and people within that community want to see everyone succeed. |
