End of Year Letter 2018

April 25, 2018

Dear Parents,

It is the time of year again where we are finishing another fun and successful track season. We will be hosting the 11th Annual Warrior Elk on Tuesday, May 1st. We have a guest speaker set up to talk to our teams pre meet about the Save a Warrior organization. We will have a 50/50 raffle at the meet, the kids are passing the hat within the team, a portion of the gate will be donated and we will match what the kids collect with the money generated going to “Save a Warrior” organization, located in Columbus, Ohio. This organization helps our vets who are dealing with the effects of their service and they provide rehab opportunities for these brave men and woman to transition back into their civilian lives. I believe that Mr. Adam Carr will provide an emotional and powerful message, something the kids won’t want to miss! Our captains are asking that each athlete donate $1 or $2 but if they choose not to that is ok as well.  We are asking the kids to wear their Ago’na t-shirt to the meet that day as a show of unity in our fight for our troops and mental health assistance. I am excited that we will continue to add a philanthropic opportunity to our program, and this is an organization to which we feel we should contribute. It’s also a great meet, and all are encouraged to attend and all kids will compete in one event, at minimum.

The last meet of the season for many of our athletes is Saturday, May 5th, at the JV GWOC meet. The meet is at Centerville High School again this year and will start at 10:00 AM  with the field events and 10:15 AM with the running events.  After this meet, we will be identifying some of the athletes who we would like to stay and practice for the remainder of the season. The rest of the athletes will have completed their season and will be turning in their uniforms. We will be collecting these at the conclusion of the meet Saturday. Please have you son/daughter bring all of their gear with them to the meet and a change of clothes to wear home.  This will happen between 2:00-2:30, so please plan ahead.

The GWOC meet is at Troy High School on Wednesday, May 9th, and Friday, May 11th. It is shaping up to be a fantastic post season, and all are encouraged to come and support the team. Wear your track t-shirts and cheer on our ELKS!

The banquet will be on Monday June 4th at 6:30 pm in the Central Theater (old one). I realize that this is the first Monday after school is out, but we want to have all students available to be here and wanted to stay away from graduation and exams (plus the end of the season meets). The banquet will have cake and drinks after the ceremony in the lobby, and all are invited to stay and celebrate the season.  The athletes must be at the banquet to receive their PE credit and complete their season. Information is available on, or if there are problems with this, please email me at We will be moving the equipment back up to the school the day after the banquet (6/5). Please have your child here at 11am to help move. It is a huge undertaking and if everyone is here it can be done in an hour, but if not, it can take all day.

Thank you for all of your support this season, and we will see you at the track.
